Vermont-based Burton began selling snowboards in 1977 and has since expanded to winter apparel, luggage, and bags, including its line of rugged backpacks. Some of Burton’s backpacks have a simple design suitable for everyday use while others are fancier with outside pockets in useful places and straps that have various functions. Burton backpacks can be as small as 15L and as large as 31L. The style can be conservative or colorful. Some include many pockets while others are more limited in organizational features. All have a padded laptop compartment, though not all will fit a 17” computer. Burton also includes padded straps on all of its backpacks for comfort, but only some come with a sternum strap.
